Irish Braided Cable Knit Headband

Project Info

Pattern: Irish Braided Cable Knit Headband By Julie

Yarn:

  • Caron Simply Soft 100% Acrylic in Snow Sparkle (<1 skein)

Some might notice that this project was created with the leftover yarn from the snitch wings on my Harry Potter Gryffindor Style Baby Blanket

Time to Completion: Approx. 10 hours

Project Notes: This was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon in late Autumn when I’d noticed that my love of wearing buns daily was clashing with a need for my ears to stay warm in the increasingly cold weather of southern Minnesota. This is a great quick knit for any new knitters hoping to practice cables or create some holiday presents for friends. In total, I knit 148 rows; test fitting the headband as I went along until I was able to wrap it around my head with a slight stretch to ensure it wasn’t too large. At 148 rows, the headband ended up being about 20 inches long, the circumference of my head is a little over 22 inches.

41 rows are shown to have been knitted on the red counter lying next to the partially started white braided cable rectangle.
Just getting started with the cabling.
Modeling the finished headband 🙂
